Progressive democrat venom focused on wrong person.

I don't quite understand why progressive democrats focus their venom on President Joe Biden. I understand and sympathize with progressives desire to obtain a ceasefire in Gaza to get needed aid to the Palestinians; free the hostages; and cease the carnage. However, the invective and anger is incorrectly focused. Pressuring both Israel and Hamas is the only way to attain a cease fire. Destroying Hamas is the only way to end the war.

What Did "Founding Fathers" Mean by "Freedom of Religion"?

"Both the Christian Right and the secular Left are largely wrong about the religious beliefs of America’s key Founders and, consequently, their prescriptions for America based on those assumptions are also wrong. America’s Founders were not all Christians, and they did not intend to create a Christian nation. On the other hand, they were not rank secularists who intended to erect a wall of separation between church and state. They were religious men who wanted religion – but not necessarily Christianity – to have significant influence in the public square."

Is Donald Trump Eligible to be Elected President?

Thanks to the 4 - 3 decision made by the Colorado State Supreme Court on 19 December 2023, this question is now destined for the United States Supreme Court.  It is very possible that the decision was made specifically to ensure that the issue of Trump's eligibility fell to the Supreme Court.

I Expected Red-State Republicans to Reinstate 1800s Abortion Bans

On April 9, 2024, The New York Times online published an article reporting that the Arizona State Supreme Court reinstated a 160-year-old abortion ban. While I am disturbed that the Arizona State Supreme Court reinstated a 160-year-old abortion ban, I am much more apprehensive that several other partisan Republican State Supreme Courts (or Legislatures) will resurrect similar, antiquated laws?

Presidential Election May Not Be Decided on November 5th

It could take weeks for the 2024 Presidential Election to be decided. Because of time zone differences (East Coast, Central, Mountain, West Coast, and Far West), State polling places will close throughout the evening. With several races considered "too close to call", manual vote counting will be required. Further, close State votes will cause candidates to pursue law suits. Important: just because manual counts and/or re-counts are performed, it is incredibly unlikely that fraud is involved (i.e. dead people, ineligible voters, illegal immigrants, Trump / MAGA conspiracy theories, unforeseen circumstances, etc.)

Elon Musk is Trying to Play Kingmaker

Online news and television networks have repeatedly shown Elon Musk, the billionaire owner of Tesla, X (formerly Twitter), and SpaceX, on stage at Donald Trump's events. Over the years, Musk has donated thousands of dollars to candidates of both political parties. However, Musk has become increasingly more conservative. Over the summer, Musk provided millions of dollars to Trump's campaign. Musk has also used, or allowed others to use, X to spread false and misleading statements to sow doubt and spread lies about government entities, political opponents, immigration efforts, hurricane relief efforts, and those with opposing views.

The Economy is Finally Getting Over Covid

The economy is always a topic of debate during the election cycle. During this election cycle, Trump is trying to compare the economy during his Administration to the economy during the current Biden Administration, of which VP Kamala Harris is a part. However, no comparison of the economy under each Administration is complete unless the effect of the Covid-19 Pandemic is included.

Fact Checking Trump - Harris Debate

The September 10, 2024 Trump - Harris debate on ABC covered topics such as the economy, crime, immigration, health care, abortion, and the 2020 election results. Since politicians miss-state facts, make things up, and take statistics out of context, I searched the internet for articles that fact checked statements by both candidates during the debate.  This blog post provides 5 such articles.

Trump's VP Selection is a Christian Nationalist Mini-Me

On July 15, 2024, Donald Trump selected J. D. Vance, a 39-year old Ohioan, as his running mate.  According to multiple news outlets, Vance is a young, mid-western, Christian conservative, populist who is very ideologically aligned with Trump. In other words, Vance is a "Christian Nationalist Mini Me".

Trump Convicted by Manhattan Jury

On May 30, 2024, Mr. Donald J. Trump was unanimously found guilty of 34 of 34 counts by 12 Manhattan, NY residents (jury of his peers) beyond a reasonable doubt. Each of the 34 counts were for falsifying business records (to hide the "catch and kill" scheme) to protect Mr. Trump's 2016 presidential campaign. The jury deliberated just over 9 hours.
