On August 27, 2024, Special Counsel Jack Smith filed an updated (superseding) indictment against Donald Trump regarding Trump's actions to overturn the results of the November 2020 presidential election.

 

As discussed in the below articles from The New York Times and Wall Street Journal, Special Counsel Smith charged Mr. Trump with the same 4 counts as the original indictment. The update was required to  conform to the Supreme Court's July 1, 2024 ruling that president's could not be charged for actions taken when exercising their Constitutional responsibilities.
