Ten Commandments Differ by Religion
Conservative state governments continue their effort to infuse Christianity into public life and to instill state and federal laws with Catholic beliefs. I firmly believe that these efforts are contrary to the First Amendment doctrine of Separation of Church and State. The efforts are also hypocritical of Jesus's teaching of inclusion.
Below is a chart comparing Hebrew, Protestant and Catholic versions of the Ten Commandments. The immediate distinctions are (1) the Hebrew and Protestant versions are similar in verbiage and numbering, and (2) the Catholic version are distinctly different from the Hebrew and Protestant versions.
As documented at the https://www.democracydieswithlies.com/church-state-separation/church-state-separation-federalist-papers page, I documented that the Federalist Papers, so often sited by conservatives, did not deal with religious freedom.
